The City of Sydney is on a mission to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50%, increase renewable energy supplies, source 10% of all water via recycling tanks, and add 48,000 much-needed dwellings to the city – all by 2030.
This ambitious manifesto is called the City of Sydney’s ‘Sustainable Sydney 2030’ vision, which strives to create one of the word’s most livable green cities within a 20-year timeframe.
Central Park is now doing its part to make ‘Sustainable Sydney 2030’ a reality. Thanks to a $100 million investment in sustainable technologies, Central Park will achieve the highest environmental rating for a mixed-use precinct in Australia. It also delivers 1,900 much-needed dwellings to the residents of Sydney, whose population is expected to rise by 1.1 million people over the next 25 years.
On 30 June 2011, Frasers was one of 13 major property owners and developers to join the City of Sydney's Better Buildings Partnership, an unprecedented collaboration committed to delivering the City's target of 70% reduction in carbon emissions in CBD buildings by 2030.
Other eco-friendly innovations include water recycling, solar panels and tri-generation energy plants, plus car sharing programs, pedestrian paths and cycleways to reduce traffic. The ‘Sustainable Sydney 2030’ vision was a major inspiration for designing Central Park’s own masterplan, which aims to raise the benchmark for urban redevelopments globally.
