When Frasers Property first acquired the Carlton & United Breweries site from Foster’s in 2007, we felt it was very important to seek the advice of a wide range of people from all walks of life. It began meeting with local residents to ask, ‘What is your dream for the future of Sydney?’. Frasers hosted a series of community consultation and information events in 2007 and 2008, with hundreds of local community members, local businesses and the many planning and infrastructure stakeholders involved in a project of this complexity.
As a result, the masterplan at Central Park was tweaked, revised and perfected in response to community feedback, so that its final incarnation was readily approved by the NSW Department of Planning in February 2009.
Around 50-60% of Central Park’s buildings will now deliver stylish residential apartments, and 40-50% will create an eclectic array of shops, galleries, cafes, restaurants and office space. A commercial campus will service 5,000 city professionals, and because Central Park is conveniently located at the southern edge of the CBD near Central Station, it will reduce the city’s reliance on cars.
A 6,400 square meter public park - Chippendale Green - will welcome nearby communities into Central Park, and water recycling, rooftop gardens and car-share programs will bring residents a step closer to achieving their dream of living a more sustainable lifestyle.
Weather permitting, Chippendale Green will be open in May 2012, and residential towers 'Park Lane' and 'One Central Park' will be ready to occupy in 2013.
